About the Artist
I have been painting in traditional watercolor for many years but the hunt for more texture and brighter colors has led me to more experimental techniques. For the past few years I have been working on watercolor paper that I first gesso sometimes I will collage a piece of vintage music sheet to the watercolor paper. I also have been having fun with a new series of bright colored and highly textured abstract animals on Yupo Paper. I find that the colors are brighter on the Yupo Paper and the textures are stronger. Yupo Paper is not really a paper at all but is a synthetic plastic paper originally designed for the printing industry. I’m still using watercolor just in a fun new way. I also have opened a new gallery upstairs in Wake Forest Coffee called the Artist’s Loft and Gallery where I’m joined by nine other artists.
